A few standout names have defined their time in the evolution of housing in Australia. In my view Harry Trigguboff’s Meriton must be given credit as today’s market leader. Albert Jennings defined post war housing from the company’s formation in 1932. Other equally successful housing business proprietors of their time include: L J Hooker who defined the development and sale of green fields land for housing from the 1950s and Len Buckeridge’s West Australian BCG housing and construction businesses. They are in the league that Triguboff must now stand. Meriton has come a long way from the days when its apartments were held out as examples of poor design, cheap quality and developments which mostly offended the skyline …
